The ultra-cool sister palette to Anastasia Beverly Hills’ (ABH) best selling Modern Renaissance is here. Meet Soft Glam. This beauty features a mix of three shimmers, one metallic, and nine mattes is a welcome addition to my collection. It features my all-time favorite ultra-matte black, Noir and a few ABH classics like Orange Soda, Burnt Orange, and Sienna. It’s Valentine’s Day debut is sure to position it as the go-to palette for spring.
One of my favorite things about the ABH palette is the consistency of the formula. With the exception of Subculture (others had terrible experiences with pigment fallout, I did not), all the ABH palettes have included a mix of shades and formulas that all performed well. Hardly a dud among them and this palette, I’m happy to report, is no different. I couldn’t find a single shade that stood out for the wrong reasons. There were a few lighter shades that I probably won’t use, namely Tempera and Fairy, just because they are so light I rarely have use for them. However, I know Tempera is a staple in many an ABH lover’s collections so I’m happy that it was included in the palette. Even with the inclusion of these two shades, I would say Soft Glam is entirely brown girl friendly. There are a ton of earthy browns and roses with deep bases that appeared different on my skintone.
My absolute favorite shade in this palette is Mulberry. No surprise for those of you who have been reading a long time and know I have a weakness for maroon and deep berry eyeshadow shades. I probably have ten of the same shade. Does that stop me from getting excited over the addition of another one? Not one bit. Noir is also a very welcome addition to the palette because it allows you to build some definition into your eye look without reaching for another palette. Basically you can go day to night in five minutes if you build up your existing sweet, rosy look with Noir in the outer third and crease. One of my favorite black shadows since I discovered it in the limited edition ABH World Traveler palette a few years ago. Thankfully, it’s also a permanent single otherwise I would be hoarding like five World Travelers. No lie, cross my heart!
I was also pleasantly surprised by the shade Bronze. It’s a bit unassuming in the pan, but once swatched (as you will see below), it’s really a stunner. Really pigmented and still blendable at the same time, yes please! There was a bit of fallout, but not enough to stop me from smearing it all over my eyeballs. In the look below, I went for simple, using Dusty Rose, Sienna, and Mulberry (inner to outer corner) with some demi-wispy lashes for a flirty daytime glam look. Very fitting with the name of the palette, if you ask me. What shades are you loving? Share ’em in the comments below!
