Before I tried the Yves Saint Laurent All Hours Longwear Natural Matte Foundation, I lived and died by the Estee Lauder Double Wear Liquid Foundation. But now the two formulas are neck and neck contenders for my all time favorite foundation? What’s giving Ms. Lauder a run for her money? Keep reading to find out!
Nobody’s perfect and my face has its fair share of issues. First off, the pores surrounding my nose are craters. My T-zone gets extremely oily as the day wears on. I’ve got dry patches on my cheeks that are emphasized when I wear foundation. I’ve got hyperpigmentation and dark spots around my nose and mouth. Shall I continue? I have problem skin. I rarely venture out looking for new foundations because when I find one that can control all these issues, I cling to it like a dog to a bone. When I found Double Wear, all my problems were solved … as long as I didn’t get a tan. I found my perfect winter match in 6W1 Sandalwood. It’s a beautiful shade that’s warm, but olive-y at the same time. It’s hard for me to find foundations that don’t skew all the way golden or all the way red. However, I haven’t quite found my summer match in Double Wear and I’ve been on the hunt for years for a different foundation that can give me the same warm fuzzy feeling in all my tanned glory.
My hunt for the perfect summer match led me to great shade matches with Huda Beauty #FauxFilter, Dior Forever, and Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r. I love this YSL foundation because it’s natural enough for me to wear everyday to work, but I can boost that baby to full coverage in two pumps for an IG-worthy selfie. I crave that flexibility! Also, it was the only foundation that didn’t have me oily in two hours. In fact, I stayed matte all day. Not Double Wear matte, but I only got a tad oily on my actual nose and I can deal with that. Finally, All Hours was nearly transfer proof when brushed lightly with my fingertips. I inevitably touch my face during the day and I hate to see foundation transfer to my hands and then on to the next thing.
If your skin issues sound similar to mine, you might want to check out YSL All Hours. I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I do. I seriously committed to the foundation when I dropped $54 on a bottle at Sephora (you bet I shed real tears). But I’d rather spend more for peace of mind that my face doesn’t look crazy at the end of the day! Got questions? Hit me up in the comments!
