Summer is right around the corner and that means VACAY SZSN is in full effect! A recent slew of new products from BH Cosmetics has me feeling some kind of ready for a change in scenery. Their palettes Hangin’ in Hawaii, Love in London, and Blushing in Bali all have me dreaming of the perfect getaway.
I grabbed Blushing in Bali during my latest order from BH because I was loved the idea of a face palette. I’ve been skewing eye palettes recently so a little variety in my life was welcome! And the $16.00 price tag (I was able to snag it for a whopping $12.80 on sale!) was a breath of fresh air with comparable 6 pan palettes from NARS and others easily retailing for $40.00 or more. I didn’t feel I was breaking the bank even if the palette turned out to be a dud. But I’m happy to report that, after some testing, it is definitely not a dud.
I was a tad bit scared of the fairer shades in this palette I’m not going to lie. Lychee and Glisten looked more suited to lighter complexions and upon swatching, that’s confirmed. But I was hopeful that Coral and Sun Kissed would work on me and they do. Four shades for $12.80 is a steal and I’m gladly pay that again and again. Pomegranate and Ember are perfect for deeper skin tones so no surprises there.
What was surprising, however, is the formula of the highlighters – Glisten, Sun Kissed, and Ember. These babies are metallic. Like Looxi Beauty ‘Squad Goals’ metallic. On first swatch, they were super creamy and I was terrified they were going to layer on thick and chunky on my cheekbones. But the formula blends out very easily once it’s on the skin. I started with a tiny bit and sheered it out for that ‘barely there’ glow. Alternatively, if you want to blind astronauts in space, you can pack the pigment on your cheekbones and glow from here to the moon. The highlighters do have some glitter on them so if you aren’t a fan of the glittery highlight look, these aren’t for you. Here are a few comparison swatches to some of the nearest shades I have in my collection.
The blushes are very creamy, but no surprises with the formula there. Just solid matte color payoff. I’m in love with Pomegranate and would have probably paid the whole $12.80 just for that one shade. Don’t be surprised if I rock that all summer!
