Makeup Revolution was kind enough to send me their entire collaboration collection with Patricia Bright that came out last year. I was literally about to pass out when I opened it and saw the collab logo on all the packaging so firstly, thank you very much for making this review possible! I stan black beauty influencers who use their newfound platforms for good and I am truly happy to support Patricia Bright.
The collection includes two eyeshadow palettes and four face palettes with a bronzer, blush, and highlighter for specifically created for different four different skintones. I’ve had my eye on the shadow palettes for a while now, but somehow I missed that there were face palettes in this collection so that was a welcome surprise! Let’s get into the face palettes first. The color scheme seems to be fair, medium, tan, deep and I ain’t mad at it. It’s a little too light for me to get away with in any scenario, but the fair palette (and especially the highlighter) is gorgeous and I have just the friend I’m going to test this palette out on! The medium and tan palettes I can use the blush or the bronzer shades in different functions on my face. The tan palette has a pretty reddish bronzer that I think I could probably even use for a blush. But the deep palette – HONEY! This one was MADE for me! The bronzer and blush in this set are so pigmented a little goes a long way. I over applied the blush on my first try and spent 10 minutes trying to tone it down so definitely go with a lighter hand on that one.
Now let’s chat about these 28-pan eyeshadow palettes that have me shooketh. “Rich in Life” is the more neutral of the two, but don’t you dare call this an ordinary nude eye palette. While this palette has the neutrals you’d expect from an everyday palette, it also has two neon mattes – yellow and pink. What other neutral palette do you have that includes neon mattes!? Not to mention the several colorful shimmers that really jazz this palette up and make it stand out from the others in this category. Other differntiators include nude shades that are more suited for darker skin. I’m living for the multiple, useful transition shades!
“Rich in Color” looks like like Carnival showed up to the color scheme planning meeting to say hello. Every single shade is pigmented and gloriously bright and cheery. There are mattes, shimmers, duochromes and even two pressed glitters and they are all screaming “Rich in Color”. This palette is heavy on the colorful shades and doesn’t include many base or transition shades which is fine with me, but if you prefer to have everything in one palette, you might prefer “Rich in Life” over this one.
My only gripe with “Rich in Color” are the pressed glitters. They don’t glide on the skin or the brush like a good pressed glitter should therefore making application difficult and patchy since you have to go with multiple swipes. But thankfully there are only two glitter shades in this palette – there is more than enough to keep you occupied elsewhere.
How do you feel about this collection? What is standing out to you? You can pick up any of the items on revolutionbeauty.com or ulta.com in the USA. I’ve even seen the eyeshadow palettes in some Ulta Beauty stores if you want to swatch for yourselves.
