This was my first time purchasing lipsticks from Melt Cosmetics even though I have been following the brand for a while and love the Dark Matter eyeshadow stack. Something about the ultra-matte lipstick formula has kind of scared me off. I was always worried the formula would be too dry and accentuate my chapped lips at every chance. However, I bit the bullet when Melt announced their new metallic shades, Lewd & DO?GAF. They are must haves and now I can tell you why below!

This liquid lipstick from one of my favorite indie brands, Glitter Elixirs, is the perfect mix between a drying liquid lipstick and a traditional moisturizing satin lipstick! It applies evenly and dries comfortably on the lips. This shade goes perfect with neutral eyeshadow and lots of mascara. Glitter Elixirs, $11.95.

This work appropriate beauty delivers a nice satin finish that keeps the lips moisturized throughout the day. On me, it is super close to my natural skin color. I love Bite Beauty’s formula, it is probably my favorite lipstick formula ever! Bite Beauty, $24.

Everyone needs a brick red like MAC Cosmetics Viva Glam 1! This matte formula is just rusty enough to help you transition from a fall lip to a winter lip. And, as with all Viva Glam purchases, 100% of the proceeds go towards helping people living with HIV/AIDS. MAC, $17.

My all-time favorite deep lipstick, MAC Living Legend is just intensity in a lipstick tube! The deep reddish-brown tone really makes a statement against my skintone. This shade was a limited edition release in 2014, but you can find a similar depth in NARS Train Bleu Velvet Matte Lip Pencil. Sephora, $24.

My most recent lipstick purchase is this deep neutral from MAC that has been constantly on my lips for about a week. It has a creme finish and offers a ‘my-lips-but-better’ finish. Check out the shade on my lips! MAC, $17.

This list wouldn’t be complete without the standout holiday shade: red! Review: Nicolet Beauty Lipsticks ‘Lodi’ & ‘Anderson’
I definitely have no business buying anymore lipsticks, but will I stop!? NEVER. I’ve recently discovered how many lipstick dupes I have and it made me focus on finding and purchasing more unique colors to add to my collection. When I found out about Nicolet Beauty’s 30% off sale a few weeks ago, I took full advantage and selected two shades that I 100% knew I didn’t have .. yet! To see pics of my purchase, keep reading!

First Impression: Give Me Glow Angelina Jolie Liquid Lipsticks – Lara Croft, Jane Smith, Evelyn Salt
Since I’ve last purchased from Give Me Glow, owner Brandy D. has made some big changes! Give Me Glow now offers a wide selection of dupe and original colors in their own formula. It seems they offer new dupe colors nearly every week! With the popularity of the latest round of Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick colors, Give Me Glow released some spot on dupes for Sepia, Trust Issues, and Veronica – and I got my hands on them. Take a look at the first pics below!
Unfortunately, I don’t have the corresponding colors in the Anastasia Beverly Hills formula so I can’t tell you if these are exact dupes or not, but I can say I was more than pleased with the colors and the initial performance test. ‘Lara Croft’ (alleged dupe for ABH ‘Sepia’) is my favorite because I love the Tomb Raider video game series. The name really made me purchase the entire set, that’s how obsessed with Lara Croft I am! I’ve got all the games and movies that have come out since the early 2000’s so this had to join my collection. ‘Jane Smith’ (alleged dupe for ABH ‘Veronica’) is a gorgeous fall nude for brown skin. I would compare it to ‘Bumble’ Ultra Matte Lip from ColourPop, maybe a little darker. Not quite as dark as ‘Tulle’, but a cross between the two. ‘Evelyn Salt’ is darker than ‘Tulle’, but lighter than some of the deep burgundy shades we tend to see a lot during the winter (like ‘Wicked’ from Lime Crime’ or ‘Heathers’ from ABH).
All the shades were highly pigmented and I’m happy to report that I only needed one layer to cover my lips completely. The final product wasn’t heavy on the lips and it didn’t sink too deeply into the fine lines or crack after it dried. The formula was lightweight and comfortable during normal wear. I’m sure these shades will get some use this fall/winter!
